Earning the "Privilege" of being your Final Stop on the Telephone Service Highway.

Rate Calculator

The FinalTel Calculator allows you to calculate the total FinalTel charges for your in-state, state-to-state, and international 1+ calling using current rates. The total excludes only billing and payment charges and mandatory taxes, fees, and surcharges imposed by federal, state, and local governments. If you want to see that information, or you want to include card or toll-free calls, get an online price quote.

Tips on Entering Telephone Numbers

In all places where a telephone number is requested, the complete telephone number is not needed to calculate charges:

  1. For US telephone numbers, only the leftmost 6-digits (Area Code + Telephone Exchange) are needed (for example, 505-523 for Las Cruces, New Mexico).
  2. For North American numbers ouside the continental US (48-states), such as Canada and Hawaii, enter 1 followed by the Area Code and Telephone Exchange numbers (for example, 1-907-456 for Fairbanks, Alaska).
  3. For numbers in Mexico, enter the first 6 digits starting with country code (for example, 52-1810 for Durango, Mexico).
  4. For all other international numbers, enter the country code followed by the city code (for example, 33-1 for Paris, France). At most 7 digits are required.

Tips on Entering Total Minutes

Although minutes are more commonly used, FinalTel bills by the second. We therefore provide the following forms for inputting minutes:

  1. Whole Minutes: Enter the whole number of minutes (for example, 90 for 90-minutes);
  2. Minutes and Fractions of Minutes: Enter the whole number of minutes, a period, and the decimal fraction of a minute (for example, 90.5 for 90 and one-half minutes); or,
  3. Minutes and Seconds: Enter the whole number of minutes, a colon (:), and the whole number of seconds (for example, 90:30 for 90-minutes and 30-seconds).

Tips on Adjusting for Other Carrier Gimmicks

Many carriers use gimmicks that cost you extra. FinalTel does not use gimmicks and suggests that you adjust for your carrier's gimmicks to produce a fairer total for comparison.

Adjusting for Minimum Call Durations

Examine the call duration column on a recent bill from your present carrier. Note the duration of the shortest call listed. This is most likely the minimum call duration. Count the number of calls with this duration and multiply the count by the minimum call duration and then divide it by 2. Take this and subtract it from the Total Minutes you entered above. Note that international calls usually have a different minimum call duration than domestic calls.

Adjusting for Round-Up

Examine the call duration column on a recent bill from your present carrier. Note if the durations contain periods (.) or colons (:). Match the form of the duration against the following.

Call Duration
Form Example
Most Likely
Billing Increment
Billing Adjustment
Per Call
51-minute30-Seconds
5.16-Seconds3-Second
5:011-SecondNo Adjustment Needed

To determine the amount of adjustment, take the billing adjustment for the selected billing increment and multiply it by the number of calls on your bill. Convert these adjustment seconds to minutes and subtract them from the Total Minutes you entered above. Note that international calls usually have a different billing increment than domestic calls.
